White Fillings

White aesthetic fillings can be carried out from dental composite also known as tooth bonding – Tooth bonding can be used to create white fillings  for teeth.

Dental composite fillings for front teeth.

Dental composite (the restorative that is used with tooth bonding technique) has been the material of choice for creating tooth-coloured fillings for front teeth for many decades (since the 1960′s).

Because dental composite comes in a wide range of different shades of white, it will typically mimic the color of the tooth on which it is placed very closely.

In some instances, but certainly not all, dental composite can be an appropriate restorative for fillings placed in back teeth.

Patients often like white fillings because the white color of composite fillings is much less noticeable than the silver coloration of dental amalgam fillings.

White fillings work in harmony with natural teeth. Your dentist at Painfree Dentistry Paramatta will only need to remove decayed or damaged tooth material, leaving the maximum amount of healthy tooth intact. The white composite resin bonds very strongly with the tooth, and unlike silver amalgam fillings does not flex on contact with hot and cold. This constant flexing in an amalgam filling can eventually cause tiny micro fractures in the tooth, weakening the overall structure.

White fillings can become stained after a few years, depending on your lifestyle habits. If you smoke, drink red wine or a lot of coffee or tea then they will discolour more quickly. The procedure to place white fillings is technique sensitive, so they do cost a little more than amalgams.
