Dental Hygiene

Preventive care is the foundation of good dental health. Prevention is always better than cure. Our approach to oral health is comprehensive and customised to meet the needs of each individual patient. We conduct thorough examinations, asking and answering lots of questions. In addition, we do everything we can to provide you with important “self-maintenance” tips to optimise your dental hygiene. Poor dental care can lead to decay, gum disease, pain, tooth loss and a lack of self-confidence.

Gum disease can be prevented and if diagnosed and treated early, any ill-effects are reversible. We take a proactive approach, offering thorough “preventive” exams as well as in-office diagnostic and treatment services. Our procedures are non-invasive and non-surgical.

Healthy gums do not bleed with brushing and flossing. Bleeding is typically a sign of gingivitis. Gum disease can progress with no pain until teeth become loose. Gum disease is the most common cause of adult tooth loss, with estimates suggesting that 80% of the adult population will experience some form of gum disease in their lifetime.

Gum disease has been linked to other health problems like heart disease, stroke, respiratory ailments, osteoporosis, diabetes and more recently pancreatic cancer. Research is continuing to determine to what extent gum disease contributes to these health conditions.
