What to know about Damon braces

Dental technology and treatments are always changing and improving. Dentists can now offer a better treatment alternative to traditional metal braces, known as Damon Braces.

At Painfree Dentistry, we are proud to say that we offer this efficient and successful treatment to patients who need it.

What Are Damon Braces?

Dr Dwight Damon created Damon braces to shorten treatment times for patients, and to save healthy teeth from dental extractions.

Damon braces are fitted the same way as traditional metal braces, but that is where the similarities end. Damon braces have a slide mechanism that attaches wires to brackets, allowing the brackets to move naturally with the teeth as they align.

This process makes braces comfortable since brackets do not have to be tightened and adjusted regularly. Damon braces move teeth gradually and do not use as much force as traditional metal braces.

What Issues Can a Damon Brace Fix?

Damon braces can fix a variety of dental issues, including:

  • Teeth Spacing
  • Crowded Teeth
  • Underbite
  • Overbite
  • Open Bite
  • Cross Bite

Benefits of a Damon Brace?

There are many benefits to a Damon Brace. Some of these are:

Fewer Adjustments – These braces move with the teeth so you can complete treatment with no tightening.

Comfort – Damon braces are more comfortable than metal braces since they don't need to be tightened.

Enhances Facial Features – They align teeth beautifully, which will improve the appearance of your face.

Successful Results – We have seen many happy patients after treatment.

Faster Treatment Time – The treatment time is generally faster than metal braces, with fewer dental visits.

No Need for Extraction – In some cases, dentists may need to extract teeth to create space in a crowded mouth. This is unnecessary with Damon braces since the forces create space naturally.
