Hi, I’m Dr Elie Alam, the founder of Painfree Dentistry. Yesterday, during one of my consultations, my patient asked me, “I’m not sure whether veneers will look good on me or are worth it.” This comment is very common at our practice - our patients want to straighten their teeth, invest in a smile makeover but are unsure if they should invest a substantial amount of money in to their smile.
Introducing the latest technology entering the dental industry, Digital Smile Design (DSD), which will place Painfree Dentistry ahead of its competitors. For the first time, our patients will be able to visualise the ‘end product’ before going ahead with their treatment plan and investment.
What is it Digital Smile Design?
DSD is a 3-D digital imaging and videography software which allows for careful analysis of the patient’s facial and dental structures. It is a treatment planning protocol which is considered the most effective technology currently available for modelling smiles.
The Digital Smile Design Process in Parramatta
- We start the DSD process by a careful analysis of the patient’s facial and dental characteristics, by one of our qualified dentists. We take digital photographs of your current teeth and smile, and conduct an x-ray if needed.
- We will then conduct a preliminary smile design analysis with the end result in mind. Our staff will construct the design by looking at the whole picture, including facial features, personality, and your treatment goals in mind.
- You will then be shown how your final smile will appear, and mock-ups will be crafted of the final result. Patients will have the opportunity to suggest any personal adjustment they would like of the design, such as tooth shape and length.
- The final design is then completed, and we will provide you with a treatment plan of the costs and duration of the treatment.
Note: If you decide to go ahead with your treatment, we will use DSD to construct a more in-depth mock-up of your smile.
Benefits of DSD
- Part of our documentation is performed through videos, which will allow us to see the smile in movement, and understand the changes required to achieve the patient’s maximum aesthetic potential
- Personalised experience: Digital Smile Design is solely predicated on meeting the patient’s specific wants and needs, making them more confident to achieve result
- Part of initial consultations: Patients will be able to visualise the final product during their initial consultation, prior to going ahead with full treatment
